What are dues? Why do we pay them?
Union dues are regular contributions paid by members to fund the work of the union. Our dues are 1.44% of our bi-weekly pay, with the rate set by our national union. They support organizing, bargaining, contract enforcement, member education, legal support, and the day-to-day operations of our local. We present a financial report at every General Membership Meeting (GMM), so members always know how dues are being spent. When you sign a card and pay dues, you are contributing to these union operations, and it allows you to vote in union decisions.
